End Time: 3:00 PM
As families are striving to become more active, the library is taking books and storytime out of doors! The St. Tammany Parish Library is partnering with the Northlake Nature Center to encourage fitness, enjoyment of nature and literacy at the same time with a StoryWalk®. Developed by The Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition, StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story (literally a book taken apart) along a popular walking route in the community.
The event will be held at the Northlake Nature Center in Mandeville on Friday, April 21, between 12:00-3:00. Families can stop by anytime but should arrive by 2:30 to be able to enjoy the entire story. The StoryWalk® will take about a half hour to complete, but the afternoon could be stretched out longer as families enjoy the trails at the center. The featured book will be "Waiting for Wings" by Lois Ehlert. The story allows for a lot of fun participation. Families can expect to flit, fly, and recreate other antics as they walk from page to page of the story. Check back for rain date in case of inclement weather.
